Art Hike

Saturday was spent hiking around the various art galleries with the group I went out with last week (although lots of new faces today and only two from last week!). This hike was nowhere near as long as last weekend's one (only about 8 miles today) but a good stroll!
We started at the Tate Britain, went via Christie's, the National Art Gallery, and various other places which have blurred so much I can't even remember. We then went down the Thames (other side from last week) and then across the Millenium Bridge to the Tate Modern.

The guided tour around the Tate Britain was good, and has given me an appetite to go back for more. Unfortunately we didn't get to look too far inside the Tate Modern (there were crowds of people by then, as it was about 3:30 Saturday) so we went off for a traditional afternoon tea, complete with clotted cream.

Just prior to that, we spent a few minutes in Borough Markets, not long before it closed. Borough Markets are lots of fun, but always full of people and yummy (but expensive) food. This time I just satisfied myself by taking some photos. By this stage the numbers had dwindled somewhat but there was still about seven of us with enough energy to go off to the George which apparently is one of London's oldest pubs. Luckily, the George was not part of the Australia Day celebrations, and while there was a thirsty crowd there, it was nothing compared to the Walkabout that we went past, where the aussies were queing for some way. That was only about 2pm in the afternoon, by now I would imagine things look quite different.....

Looks like a good tour. I've done some very similar walks in the past and Saturday early in Borough Market is good fun.

Here today via London Bloggers and I've just added you to the blogroll (On rashbre central sidebar and liftable).
